For Sale: 1995 ZR-1. The 140-th of 448 built in the final year of production. Painted Dark Purple Metallic. Only 25 ZR-1s, out of the 6925 sold in six-years of production were painted "DPM" making it the rarest of all ZR-1 colors. Black interior. One top. Under the hood is a modified, 500-hp, 350-cuin, four-bolt LT5. Build sheet, window sticker, Owner's Manual, Factory Service Manual, service records, oil analysis records and numerous other documents included. Never wrecked. No CarFax. Nicknamed "Barney". Owned by magazine and Internet technical writer, Hib Halverson. Built 18 Oct. 1994. Owned by GM. Delivered to Chevrolet Public Relations and assigned to the media/VIP fleet in Newark NJ. Purchased from Jack Cauley Chevrolet in Michigan by Halverson on 20 November, 1995. After purchase, Halverson drove the car to California and wrote a series of articles about that trip, "The Barney Expiditions" for the ZR-1 Registry's publication, "The Legend." This car was the subject of or had a part in a number of other magazine and web site articles written by Hib Halverson between early 1996 and 2012 including many more stories in several issues in the "The Legend" in "Vette" Magazine, on the Corvette Action Center site and the "Corvette Magazine" web site. Additionally, Halverson served 12 years as Section Captain of the National Corvette Caravan for Southern California and Southern Nevada. Barney was the Lead Car for the 2003 National Corvette Caravan from Southern California to Bowling Green KY and was a pre-run car for the 2009 and 2014 National Corvette Caravans. Total of 83,639 miles on vehicle, 50,693 miles on engine since overhaul. Oil use in 50,693 miles was 9 1/3-qt of Red Line 10W30. Always garaged. Professionally maintained by owner. Why the sale after 20 great years of ownership? 1) I ordered my Wife an Cadillac ATS-V. She put up with 12-years of my being a Caravan Captain and buying Z06 "toys" in 2004 and 2012. So now, she gets a "toy". 2) We only have garage space for three Corvettes and the off-site storage we've been using for the fourth is soon going away so we need to downsize the "fleet." 3) I'm getting too old to service and maintain four Vettes. 4) My '71 BB Coupe is not saleable right now, the 2004 Z06 isn't worth enough and I don't want to sell my '12 Z06 so...Barney becomes someone's "shopportunity" to become one of the few Zroners who own a ZR-1 from the last year of production which is painted a "one-year color" and has a storied history.
