One of two views of the dissected part.

Notice how the sensor comes apart?I didn't and broke one of the plastic pieces. To disassemble put a small screw driver into the obvious little tab on the bottom and pry the large plastic piece not the little piece!

Here is the pressure transducer. Note 25ps.

Notice the separation/delamination on the sensor.

Holding collar with pressure transducer detached.

The pressure transducer is re-glued to the holding collar.

The piezo cell is capable of producing large voltage potentials. These are rectified and captured by circuitry which stores the charge. The storage device is a 22uf cap. I think these caps start to electrically leak inside. This leakage would cause a lack of sufficient charge to build up such that the transmitter part of the device would not have enough threshold power to do it's thing.

This is a demonstration of the voltage swing created by the piezo cell.
