FAQ:
Q. Does the headers come with the gaskets?
ANS: No, you have to buy them locally.
Q. My stock headers have an upper air tubes, do I need this with my new headers?
ANS: Depends, the air tubes are for emissions but only in a cold start testing. Most testing is done on warm or hot engines. Your ZR-1 will pass emissions without the air tube in most states. States where there is a visual inspection for emission like CA you will need the air tube option. Also note you must use the check valve assembly from your manifolds in combination with our air tubes to make these work. (Click on "More images" below for picture of tubes)
Q. What about an EGR fitting, do I need this?
ANS: For '93 and up ZR-1's this is needed to help pass the emissions test (not part of the visual test however)
Q. If I don't opt for the air tube what about the hoses and pump left over from the stock headers, what do I do with these?
ANS: You can either just plug the hoses and tie them out of the way. Or you can remove them along with the pump under the headlight and save 5lbs in weight. Also to keep the pump from running if you don't remove it you can take out the fuse next to the pump.
Q. What about the O2 Sensors will the wires reach or do I need an extension?
ANS: For '90 -92 ZR-1's the DRIVERS side wire will reach however you have to do the following. There is a black plastic sheath that has extra wire inside of it. If you cut open this sheath you can pull out enough wire to reach.
For '93 - '95 ZR-1's the DRIVERS side cable is long enough.
For '90 - '92 ZR-1's the PASSENGER side cable is too short and you need an 18" extension. For those that need it SW will supply you one for free.
For '93 - '95 ZR-1's the PASSENGER side cable is long enough.
So what it all comes down to is for the 405hp ZR-1's you're all set. For the 375hp ZR-1's you need an O2 extension for the right side.
Also important you tie wrap the cables as to not touch the headers.
One other note for "93 - "95 owners if you want longer cables you can buy the '90-'92 O2 sensors which will work and they have longer cables then the '93-'95 O2 sensors.
