UNTIL NOW, THIS WAS A VERY WELL KEPT SECRET. The 75 car was actually a GM prototype 1986 bodied ZR1 in the very early days. Kim Baker had the car and did some testing with GM. Later, when GM asked for all the prototype stuff back, he told them the car was destroyed in a race crash. In actuality, he rented the car to Jeff Nowicki who raced it in World Challenge trim as the Mobil 1 ZR1.

With a lot of elbow grease, the old ZR1 began to take a more modern look

with the first race just a few weeks ahead

When we found the car at Baker's shop, it was a mess.

Both Pirate cars on the track sporting wild paint jobs, they became media favorites and were used on the SCCA World Challenge posters 3 yrs in a row.

And don't let anyone tell you ZR1's arent street cars even in race trim. Here's proof that our sponsor, Paul Stanford

At the Lime Rock race we had Kim Baker at the wheel starting 3rd on the grid until a first lap engine explosion caused a massive oil fire.

We decided to go all out after the fire and we didn't stop until the car, the LT5 and the crew were all decked out in new duds.

#75 had the most successful career of any ZR1 ever raced with drivers Scotty B White, Bill Cooper, Kim Baker, Rupert Bragg-Smith, and John Heinricy sharing turns at the wheel.

With several poles and numerous podium finishes, #75 led the points until we entered our C5 in late '99.
