I could see that the
front brake cylinder was low and could not tell how full the
back was so I pulled up the cap on the back cylinder and it
overflowed.
I looked into all the information
I could find, and found that the front cylinder could
transfer fluid back into the back one due to dirt or bad
rubber.
I took mine apart and wiped it
out using new brake fluid and cleaning the rubber parts and
put it back together again.
I decided to swap the front and
back rubber just to be safe.
It is now working and after
months, seem to be OK.
$ = 0! Time: It was fun.
Flush the system and replace with
new fluid to be safe.
P.S. Most master cylinders get gunk in them and if you clean
them, will work again. In the old days you could buy the
rubber wipers for less that a dollar from a box at an auto
parts store. IE stamped 7/8 or what ever size you needed.
You can't any more! I can guess why. My original master
cylinder on my '58 Vette still works fine, I must be doing
something right!
