* 5 of the 40th Anniversary ZR-1s were "pilot cars, engineering, etc".
In 1993 there was 1 Black Rose Metallic ZR-1 made with white interior.
The car was built for Bill Kay Chevrolet in Downers Grove, IL.
In 1994 two one of a kind ZR-1's were built. One was an Admiral Blue
with Red interior production #443 (current owner Bill Cherry of Dallas TX)
was built special for the owner of Kerbeck's Chevrolet, and the other was a Competition Yellow with Red interior
(also currently in TX.).
In 1995 it is rumored 2 ZR-1's were Yellow/Red.
It's rumored that on 4/23/91, a special color 1991 ZR1 was made
for a dignitary - WA-9795 Green/gray.
In '93 the plant switched to a new (a two component
polyurethane) that was typically applied thicker than the previous flavor...
The peel appearance is due to the paint technology change. The 2 component
paint has a longer wavelength (wider) peel than the previous 1 component,
which was quite short (tight).
In the book All Corvettes are Red, it mentions that 10 or 12 ZR-1
narrow body spyders were built. Some had DR-1 on the license plate in
honor of Don Rukle the executive. He was presented with a silver ZR-1
convertible with a yellow interior built by ASC and Chevrolet at Bowling
Green.
In 1990 several ZR-1's were built with manual AC (no C68 option).
Actual number built is said to be 124. Here are the ones we do know about:

In 1992-93 GM started running out of the Birmal heads. They found another
manufacturer, Dunn, to make heads for the ZR-1. As GM ran out of Birmal heads for the 1994-95 production
model of the ZR-1 they started installing the new Dunn heads except they ran out of the left side Birmal
heads first so some '94 ZR-1s have the new Dunn heads only on the left side.
Eventually GM started installing Dunn heads on both sides but only later built
'95 ZR-1s got Dunn heads on both sides:
For '95 cars:
All '95 cars have the Dunn heads on the left side: #10225121
Most of the '95's still have the Birmal heads on the right side: #10174390
In '95 is when they started installing some of the Dunn heads on the right side: #10225122

Most of the '94's still have the Birmal heads on the left side: #10174389
In '94 is when they started installing some of the Dunn heads on the left side: #10225121

All '90 cars have the Birmal heads on the right side: #10106179
