ZR-1 Gathering at the NCM
Thursday, May 14 to Saturday, May 16, 2020

As in the past, the Bowling Green Holiday Inn, Uni-versity Plaza, will serve as home base for the Gather-ing 2020. The hotel has opened our block of rooms. I encourage you to reserve your room as soon as possible. You can make your reservation in one of two ways:
1. Call 1-800-HOLIDAY or (270) 745-0088 - be sure to quote BLOCK CODE: ZR2 (this is not a mis-take, it is ZR2 and not ZR1 or ZR-1); or,
2. Book online at www.hibowlinggreen.com. Be sure to enter ZR2 in the GROUP CODE box to get the block rate of $133.00 per night, which includes breakfast for two people at the Holiday Inn restaurant.
We have been working with the National Corvette Museum (NCM) for several months to develop the Gathering 2020 agenda. With this year being the 30th anniversary of the launch of the ZR-1 and the Record Run in Stockton, Texas, we are in contact with many of the Lotus and GM principals who were instrumental in the ZR-1-LT5 program, the Stockton event as well as Corvette racing during the C4 era.
We will soon be in a position to post a draft agenda on the NCM website. Rest assured that Gathering 2020 will include the features for which this event has become well known in recent years. We will have a complimentary meet and greet at Holiday Inn on Wednesday evening, May 13. Thursday will begin with a performance driving seminar, followed by am-ple time on the NCM’s Motorsports Park Track that afternoon. That evening, we will cruise south for a great dinner and discuss the day’s driving adven-tures. Friday and Saturday will include not only more time on the track—in the form of karts, but various seminars following the evolution of the C4 Corvette through its development; racing endeavors; lessons learned and refinements throughout the C4 era; ex-ploration of various test platforms, as well as the de-velopment of the LT5 and marketing of the King of the Hill. The evolution of the C4 will culminate during the event banquet Saturday evening—an event you won’t want to miss. In response to questions that several members have asked about a car show, we are working with NCM to determine if the charity show, which was organized by a local club and held coincident with the Gathering in 2019, will be held again this year. If so, the show could be included in the Gathering agenda to help you with your planning and to help organizers anticipate participation num-bers. Please stay tuned for news on the agenda.
